this light stays on (in dim mode} till the battery dies or starts recharging {sunlight} it needs alot of sunlight to charge enough to make it thru the night. it switches to bright mode when motion is detected.. i wish you could set it to shut off and only turn on when motion is detected to save battery

These lights are tiny ! Maybe 5 inches by 4 inches , seems to be made well but do not put of much light , 3or 4 might light up a small stair well but for any other purpose I would say try something different . Very very very small . Somewhat disappointed but to much of a hassle to return .

This little solar powered light is a good value and it working for me very well. It comes on at dark with a dim light, bright enough to see where you are walking. When you get closer it comes on bright and lights up the area very well. Then after a short period after you leave it return to the dim mode.

Unlike many of the other reviews, some of which I read, these DO NOT DIM. THEY ARE ON WHEN THEY SEE MOTION AND GO OFF TOTALLY AFTER ABOUT 2 MINUTES .... NOT DIM AS MANY OF THE OTHER REVIEWS SAID. Now, they are very bright, being 20 led lights ... they will light up the entire area nicely. I put them up around 11am, and at 8pm, they had enough energy to light . If you want security lights, get these! They are simple as heck to put up, quick, and light up very bright!
