if you're trying to eat in a way that's healthier -- these raw food recipes are good... be prepared, there's chopping and assembling, rather than cooking... and note this book came out awhile back, early in the vegan-raw foods- vegetarian - eat less meat and less sugar thinking, so some of it is dated (you don;t have to make your own almond milk anymore etc) but they write in a compelling, encouraging way and the thai spring roll recipe was great. (And if you like fancy cocktails, they include cocktail recipes too.)

This book was purchased in the hope that it would provide healthy natural food combination ideas. The recipes are ultra healthy and based on not altering the food with heat in order to preserve enzymes and nutrients. Wonderfully photographed dishes contain lesser-known ingredients for healthier eating habits (using Agave nectar or Stevia instead of sugar). This book is not intended as a "diet" book, but anyone using the recipes would naturally shed pounds. No meat, eggs, or dairy products are used. It takes some time in the supermarket or specialty markets (Trader Joe's, Whole Foods) to find ingredients. Recipe sections are interspersed with author comments, philosophy and technique. The authors are dietary purists, the recipes are stylish and off-the-edge. It has none of the typical American "comfort foods" and is more suited to those with an adventurous spirit who prefer fresh clean tastes. Kudos to the authors for their innovative ideas and book format.Read full review
I recently started trying to stick to primarily raw foods and this book has great simple recipes for a beginner! It also has more complicated recipes to dive into. Very easy to understand and tons of health and nutritional information throughout the book as well! A buy I am so glad I made! Besides I saved almost $15 not bying it at Barnes and Noble!
I own about 6 or 7 raw food recipe books but this is the one I seem to always use because it has the most delicious recipes and you feel so great after eating the food. The full color photos are beautiful. If you ever make it to NYC be sure to visit the restaurants of these two raw food chefs. The food is awesome!
This book is filled with good advice re:diet and health. One of its distinguishing factors is that the authors were both great 'cooked' food chefs that turned raw. Thus their recipes resemble cooked food dishes. I also love the artistic photography of the food. IT makes you WANNA go out and try it.
