I purchased the bear lights out, and coming from the old style PSE Infinity that I had, It is a huge difference. This bow is really quiet compared to my older bow and is extremely light at only 3 and 1/2 lbs. I love that I can adjust the draw length without a bow press. This bow has an 80% let off as apposed to the 50% or less that my PSE had and that makes a huge difference, I can hold this bow back at full draw forever. The only thing that is not as good as the bigger name bows like mathews or bowtech is the arrow speed im only getting about 300 fps which is good enough for me but probably not for the hunter that has to have the next big thing. This bow is great for hunters from early teens to senior age. I would definitely make the purchase again. This bow is smooth shooting and shoots very true.Read full review
I first looked at the Lights Out because of the features, size, and price. I'm very happy with my purchase. It has a solid and well made feel to it. It is comfortable to hold and lightweight. The generous brace height is a tradeoff for a little speed but it is plenty fast enough for any North American big game. It is a slightly louder than I had hoped for but the string suppressor does a great job of reducing vibration. I have only shot the bow on a couple of occasions now but so far I'm very pleased. You just can't beat it for the overall features and price. Once I take it in the field and bag my first elk or bear I'll give it an excellent rating. Until then I'll stick with very good.
This bow is extremely quite and fast. For the price I think its one of the best values on bow market. Its smooth with a great feeling 80% let off and light at 3.5 lbs. Its a short bow which is great for tight spots when setting in a tree stand but its not forgiving in accuracy. It will shoot just as accurately as any Hoyt or others but when you get tired and shaky it will move all over due to its size. Performance wise this is a fine bow however, in my opinion fit and finish is what makes other bows expensive. This bow is powder coated in areas that should be anodized just like the cams are. The grip should be higher grade becuase its uncomfortable after target shooting and will cause a sore spot at the base of your thunb down at the "Y" of your hand between thumb and fore finger. Overall great bow for the money, you can be all in for under $400 including all your accesories such as sights, rest, etc. As everyone knows bows are expensive weapons and you can spend over $1000 for a fully set-up bow. I purchased the Bear Lights out due to its dollar to performance value not becuase it was "whats new" or it was "what everyone told me to buy". My next bow will be evaluated and purchased in the very same manner for the same reasons.Read full review
First off let me say that I have owned a Hoyt Turbohawk, and a PSE compounds and this Fred Bear Lights Out takes them both. I had rotator surgery in 2010 and all but quit archery due to the fact that it was hard to draw a compound bow...well the Lights Out is the easiest pound for pound bow I have ever drawn. It has a solid back wall and even when shooting mine @ 52lbs. it is still smokin fast. The Lights Out is super quiet when set up properly and has a good fit and finish on it. I will never have to but another bow again...match it with my Ulmer Edge broadheads by Trophy Taker and its one badass killing machine. if you want an affordable bow that is dependable look no further than the Fred Bear Lights Out. I would be willing to put this bow up against any other.
I bought the rts package from poor fish outdoors on e-bay. When I received it I had to take it to the bow shop and see the draw weight on a scale for myself because it feels a lot lighter. I've been shooting it 3 to 5 times a week for about 2 and a half months now with no visible string wear. This bow is very solid feeling and very easy to hold the pin on target. Smoothe draw cycle, fast, quiet, and consistent. You can't go wrong with a Fred Bear bow.
