This book has fabulous characters and Ms. Campbell brings this story to life by making the hero and heroine both need rescuing! Grace Padget is widowed and destitute and has no choice but to throw herself on the mercy of a wealthy uncle. Things don't go as planned for Grace and before her uncle can arrive she is abducted by two unseemly characters and taken to the estate of the mad Marquess of Sheene. There her fate is to be his mistress and grant him his every wish or lose her life. What Grace finds out upon meeting the Marquess is that he is quite sane and is as much a victim as she. They both plot to escape and gain their freedom, since Sheene cannot bear the thought of Grace being held against her will. What they didn't count on was losing their hearts in the bargain.
