I am a fan of Julia Quinn's. Her Regency Romances are intelligent, and the characters are likeable and believable. The plots are usually very similar, but that is the mark of the genre and no deficiency on the part of the author. I had a hard time getting into this novel. I was a bit put off by the heroine at first. It seemed to me almost like the author was trying too hard to make her heroine different. Calling her Henry and wearing men's clothes and embarking on a completely stupid attempt to drive the new Lord Stannage from Stannage Hall was all too great a reach for me. However, I felt after a few chapters all of that smoothed out and from there on it was a pretty good book. I enjoyed it, and I am sure anyone who loves Regencies will also.
One of my favorite book of Julia Quinn and one of my favorites of all times!

I loved this book. It maybe a bit predictable, as most romance novels are: man falls in love with woman and she with him, but there is trouble in paradise... But if you're willing to look past the surface plot, there is actually much to enjoy. A woman in charge of her own house and land; same woman, quite unique nickname of "Henry," short for Henrietta; a pig named Porkus; laugh-your-head-off antics and sweet sections of budding romance. A good romance novel incorporates a credible storyline, and this one will hook you in.
I am reading this book right now, i am not even done with it but it is such a great novel. The characters are so lovable and book makes me laugh so much. The characters have a deffinate attraction to eachother and you know that they are ment to be together.
