Very good looking, with great flame everywhere, this guitar is a step above my other 335's. It has well rounded pups and can be used as your one only guitar. mine came with a nice hard case, and was well packaged. My only complaint was that I could not find one with an amber finish. (i'm not a great fan of blond guitars, blond women, yes. No mater which amp I use, it sounds great!

...Repeat! Don't underestimate this brand! Kona Guitars surprised me and I'm sure will surprise you as well given the opportunity. Disclaimer :: Before I get started, let me be clear that I'm not affiliated with the manufacturer in any way, have not been payed or compensated for my opinion, and bought my guitar with my own hard earned money and I proudly own a Kona KE35FMN. I own (or have owned) and have played many top name brand and several boutique guitars over the last 40+ years from Gibsons to Fenders, Guilds, Martins, Epiphones, DeArmonds, Yamahas, Crafters, a real original 1970 Giannini Craviola classical (last one made by the now deceased Giannini himself), a Hagstrom Viking Baritone etc, etc, and many other unknown brands most have never or rarely even heard of. Even had a few that didn't have a name. Point is, I know a good sounding and playing guitar when I see and hear one. I purchased the Kona KE35FMN, and let me tell you!... THIS is one fine instrument for the money! I'll personally put it in league with the $1k class of guitars 9 days a week. And this particular model can and does play with the big boys all day long. From jazz to blues, rock, and in-between, this one will please you. The finish is first rate, flawless, and beautifully bound top to bottom. Gold hardware is a perfect choice on the natural flamed maple veneer top, back, sides and head stock. This is certainly one of the most beautiful guitars in my small collection. Understated elegance I say. Acoustically it's typically thin but loud enough to be heard. However, you can feel the quality even unplugged as the tones just resonate throughout the instrument. Sustain is good. Not a Fernandez Sustainer mind you, but it has good ringing sustain that is noteworthy. Plugged in?... this puppy wails!! The factory setup out of the box is great on mine. A major plus! Action is low with no fret buzz or dead spots. Intonation was as good as it gets from a distribution center. The major majority of manufacturers are generally reasonably close, but not spot on. Mine is all but perfect (strobe tuners don't lie). Frets are smooth, polished and level on a strait and comfortable playing neck. The factory pups are surprisingly clean and articulate. Like many others I thought I'd likely replace them, but after plugging it in and jamming with it I've decided to leave it alone. The manufacturer hit the nail on the head with this pair of humbuckers as they are a perfect match for this guitar. It also came with a classic black custom Tolex covered plush case with Konas' logo on a nice little plate riveted to the side. Classy, not flashy. The case and guitar are such a perfect fit you'd think they were made for each other! ;-) Spec's from the manufacturer*... I can't say enough about this guitar out of the box. It's beautiful, well crafted with lots of attention to detail, book-matched front AND back, highly polished, smooth quiet pots with nice gold plated metal machine-knurled and polished knobs, as well as smooth tuners that look good and stay tuned! The overall fit and finish is flawless. If you've always wanted an ES-335 style guitar with lots of class, playability, and versatility without the $3-5k price tag, this Kona KE35FMN is worth your time and consideration. Highly recommended.Read full review
