The Newport 2 has the simple classic lines and look that allow a golfer to focus on only 2 things, line and speed. The weight and balance of this putter is superb. The sight line is clean and simple and the putter is easy to square up. This classic blade model is in sharp contrast to bulky-looking mallets that seem to abound today. The simple elegant look and perfect balance are all a golfer could ask for in a putter. Cameron achieves the perfect balance and weight not by transferring weight "behind the putter face" but rather by strategically postioning 20 g weights at the bottom of the hosel. I think the mid-slant also gives the user a "cleaner and more refined look" than the sharper-angled, bent hosels of other Newport models. Of course, there is one down side to this putter. It is darn expensive ($270) and unfortunately that keeps it out of reach of many golfers. I guess Cameron doesn't care or think too much about the average golfer, he seems only interested in targeting the wallets of the country club set. That is my only gripe about all his putters and a darn shame because he is a fine designer that too few can afford.Read full review
It took me a while to become a Cameron Convert, because I always felt that Scotty got way too much credit for copying Karsten Solheim's Ping Answer putter. However, by using higher grade materials, a deep milled face, and making a putter more aesthetically pleasing than most, I have to rate this putter a 10 out of 10. It’s a well-balanced, confidence inspiring, putting tool. I love the way it feels, and it does truly perform. Why Ping didn’t just counter what Scotty was doing by tricking out the Ping Answer is beyond my comprehension. I think Odyssey has started stepping up their game, and copying what Cameron is doing. Anyway, this is the putter that’s staying in my bag for life. Can’t imagine anybody, including Scotty improving on the ultimate putter.

This Scotty Cameron putter completes my totally Titleist golf bag. I've always wanted a Cameron putter, BUT they can be alittle expensive for the mid-handicap golfer. I'm the envy of all my golf buddies and everyone that has tried my new putter remarks about the wonderful balance. The grip is alittle small compared to my "old" Odyssey putter, but one which I think I'll adjust to with alittle more use. Making an expensive purchase on a club that is not in hand for inspection can be difficult, but this eBay seller was very accurate on his description, and I was extremelly happy with the condition of this putter. I've had many good experiences with eBay purchases, and I'm happy to report that this was another one.
First produced in 1995, the Newport is the head design that is the backbone of the Cameron line. Most of the tour models and the majority of the production clubs in bags today are based on the Newport. The head design is based on the Classic 1, first produced in 1992 and made famous in the 1993 win at Augusta. The plumbers style neck on most Newports is complemented by a shorter flowing neck design known as the Santa Fe or 1.5 neck that is also available. The Newport 2 head is just a fraction larger than the original Newport and offers both length and head weight options. Very similar to the heads designed by Karsten Solheim, Scotty has refined the process to produce a quality and feel unequaled on the market today.
Great balance, touch amd feel for a putter. Great value of for the money. Very nice visual lines, easy to align. Perhaps the biggest feature is the touch at impact, gives great feedback.
