I don't know if you've seen the original clone wars cartoon. If you're reading this the you've at least heard of it. Otherwise you wouldn't be considering buying it, right? If you haven't then this series, when it was played on tv, were played as shorts between the other shows on cartoon network. It and volume two bridge the gap between the star wars movies two and three of the younger trilogy. Sometimes the animation feels a little choppy, other times it carries the action very well. Which is the show's focus as it tries to stay away from dialogue. The music complements the movies score. For Star Wars fans, big or little, this would be a great thing. Everything about it carries the sense of scale that Star Wars fans love.
I love Star Wars. This is another piece to my collection. If you are like me, this is something you should have. It opens up a part of the mostly untold stories from the Clone Wars era of the Star Wars universe. The Clone Wars last from the end of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones to the beginning of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Yes, that's right; the Clone Wars are hardly depicted at all in the movies! So, that's where this series picks of the slack. This volume is, to me, a small morsel of the possible feast of possibilities. As you watch, you can tell that not even all the battles or even all the battles we DO see are shown. There are "snap shot" sequences of a few battles, but it mostly focuses on some of the campaigns that Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker fight in. It ends with a pre-Episode III glimpse at the prowess of General Grevious. There are plenty of action, including some awesome lightsaber displays. My only problem with the show: it was too short!!! It just wasn't enough for me. If you feel the same way after watching Star Wars-Clone Wars: Vol 1, then go look for Volume 2 where the action continues.Read full review
Although I remember very little from when my son was little, now that he's older and got me to watch Clone Wars, we had to buy this. It was interesting how little verbal engagement there was. Animation was great, but a couple of times had a hard time staying interested. Overall a good buy and loved adding it to our collection!

For some Star Wars fans the concept of a cartoon maybe a little hard to get used to, however, take it for what it is...a cheaper (and different) way to continue the Star Wars saga. There is tons of action, and subtle additions to the base story that takes place between theatrical releases. The animation isn't bad, a little wierd at times, but all in all very watchable for both young and old Star Wars fans.
Love this set, it is only one part of a two set! It shows a bit more back story and also has one of my favorite clones ARC-77, Captain Fordo, whom is the Captain Rex in the other Clone Wars series! I highly recommend it!
