The Blu-Ray medium is fantastic for this film. Having only seen this in a theater 30 years ago and then again (and again) on VHS, Blu-Ray technology made this a low risk purchase. It was refreshing to enjoy the amazing clarity of both the visual and audio signals that transferred to Blu-Ray. I cannot directly compare it to the DVD versions, as I have not experienced either. I rarely buy Blu-Ray since up-conversion of DVD on my Blu-Ray player has been superb when coupled with a 1080 monitor. I found several reviews of the 2009 DVD release referencing color issues where none of the Blu-Ray reviews that I read mentioned color problems, and reviews of the first DVD complained of the director’s cut alteration (2002). I did not feel the need to make color adjustments for this Blu-Ray film and I have not seen the director’s cut version. As for the movie, it is a well-written story that follows nicely from both its own 1967 prequel (Space Seed, Star Trek Season 1, Episode 22) and from the character developments of the Star Trek original series. For the five or six people who have not yet seen this movie, I won’t give it away by summarizing the plot. But if you are even remotely a Star Trek fan, there are scenes that will truly affect you emotionally. Simply put, it is a very clever revenge of Khan upon the now Admiral Jim Kirk. There are no flat spots here as this film contains at least as much tactical excitement as a good submarine movie. By 1982, special effects had nearly arrived so the true ramifications of intense weapons burning through the hull of a ship with a crew traveling in vacuum are revealed perhaps for the first time. The character developments help round out the film and give an admirable depth to the plot. Oh yeah, and Kirstie Alley is simply THE hottest Volcan evar!! Enjoy.Read full review

This is the classic Star Trek movie. Some of the performances are hammy and Kirk's a bit over the top, but they make for exciting entertainment along with the fabulous music soundtrack and flawless special effects. What, we can't do better than this 30 years later? OK, the 2009 movie is really good too! But Wrath of Khan beats it story-wise. The new 2013 movie tries for some of that Khan magic, but doesn't make it.
For what it is worth this is my all time favorite Star Trek film. That is all I have to say about that.
