...and in my own living room, no less. Back in the day, this series was on at an hour that I was only able to enjoy on rare days off. Now I can bring it to my TV screen at any time I choose to. If you appreciate the imagination of Gene Roddenberry and his incredible TV production teams, then this is a series that you want in your media library. Not all of the characters are politically correct (or even believable); but you can experience that just by walking out of your own front door on any given morning. What sets all of the Star Trek phenomena apart is their ability to take contemporary issues into the future and re-examine them from a myriad of perspectives. The recording quality alone makes this an absolute must have. Indulge yourself...you're worth it...and so is this collection!Read full review

Great show, average video quality but good sound. 1 disc (season 1 DVD #2) has subtitles that cannot be turned off. This is a major blemish in the whole set and turned a 4 star product into a 3 star product.

I am an original Star Trek devotee so I was always behind the times to watch a new series due to a sense of self imposed loyalty. I refused to watch ST-TNG for several years and finally had to admit that it was just as great and addictive as the original. The same with Deep Space 9. But a female captain!? (Capt. Janeway) I saw no reason to watch Voyager as I knew it couldn't be good. I finally gave it a chance and have had it admit that it is, in my opinion, the best of the Star Trek spin-offs. It is difficult to find reruns of Voyager on TV so I knew I needed to buy the complete series if I was to see what I had missed. I really like and respect the actors on the show. They had to have known that there would be a lot of viewers like me who would be comparing them with the actors on the previous shows. How could a hologram Dr. be as believable as Dr. McCoy? Mr Tuvok being compared to Mr. Spock? And yet the entire crew manages to bring you aboard the starship and make you feel their struggle to return to the Alpha Quadrant. The Starfleet crew and members of the Maquis don't always get along but what a great way to show how people can get along when they work towards a common goal. (getting home) And the way the Borg was incorporated into the series was some terrific writing. Star Trek: Voyager is a Trekker's delight. I'm old enough to have seen the original Star Trek on TV and slowly learned there was no disloyalty by moving on to the other series. Star Trek started it and the spin offs used that platform and continued to grow into new worlds with new species that we Trekkers have come to love. What a legacy Gene Roddenberry started. May it continue on. "Live Long and Prosper."Read full review
This is a bit of a mixed review. Voyager in it self is great. I give it a 10 out of 10 with out even thinking. But I had several problems with the packaging and the disks themselves. First off the box is just a box. Like a normal every day box. Not a dvd box or anything fancy. Its just a box. The problem is you are almost garneted to bend it wile opening it. So if you are looking for something that will stay in perfect condition over a long period of time, then this is not it. Inside the outer box is another box that is just plain cardboard. And inside that is all 7 DVDs in cloth plastic sleeves. This is the worst packaging I have ever seen for anything. Its almost like it is bootleg, or who ever put it together just didn’t care. But its not bootleg because this collection is sold on the star trek website. Its just rather disappointing. Another problem was with the DVDs. They don’t work all that well. What happens is the video skips around like the disk is badly scratched. I tried them on the Playstation 3, on my computer, and on a normal DVD player. None of that changed anything. Eventually I got them to work perfectly on a mini portable DVD player. I have no idea why this worked better than a computer or a ps3, but it did. So this may be a huge draw back for this product. You don’t want to spend all that money on this only to not be able to watch it on your tv. In the end, this is still a great product. You get to see all of voyager, and for a rather cheep price. You just have to make some sacrifices as to how you watch it.Read full review
I had my doubts about buying this series on DVD as I read horror stories about the packaging being so poorly designed. But since it's release on Blu-ray is uncertain and the Chinese set I bought many years ago skips during some episodes, I went for it. And was I pleasantly surprised! The packaging - at least mine anyway - was at least adequate, using a plastic case for each season and a plastic page for each disc that flip like pages in a book...more than enough protection. And the quality of the video & audio? Much better than even the best episodes of the Chinese copies. Much better. It would be hard to tell the difference between this on my Blu-ray player and an authentic Blu-ray disc being viewed. The only thing I miss is packaging that describes the episodes and other content...like I've seen with other DVD sets. SPOILER ALERT!!! THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBES SOME VOYAGER STORY MATERIAL I'm a trekkie since the early '70s and Voyager was always one of my favorite Trek series. I won't get into much of a description of the show because if you're looking into buying the Star Trek: Voyager series on DVD then you've either already watched it a lot on cable, remember when it was broadcast over the airwaves or at least done some work on the 'net looking into the basic storyline. I'll just say that after being thrust into the Delta Quadrant, attempting to travel 70,000 light years to get back home creates some good stories & action. Character development blossoms after a season or two, especially with the holographic doctor and later...Seven of Nine. (Basically the only recurring subject that sucks is the Kazon, an annoyingly aggressive race that Voyager finally flies out of the range of after the 1st & 2nd seasons. If you can put up with them until then, you'll have lots of fun with the rest of the series.)Read full review
