This a compilation of ten years of Robert Byrne's columns in Billiards Digest. In turning them into a book there were extensive editing and additions. The first part of the books is about pool and goes from a summary of basic technique to how to shoot masse shots, bank shots and break shots. The second part is about carom billiards -- if you can't find a carom table, the ideas will still be useful on a pocket table. The last part of the book has biographies of players and describes the wider world of cue sports. If you can learn by reading and want to learn to play pool, this book belongs in your library. It has gems that even some of the top players don't know about.

Even thought this book was written 17 years ago, nothing has changed. The physics of billiards is the same as it has been since the development of the rubber bumper, slate bed and phenolic balls. This book will teach you what you need to know in order to understand how it all relates into one big package. Armed with that knowledge, you will be able to win a few more beers at the local watering-hole, or drag home that giant trophy to mama. So stop reading this blah, blah and go ahead --- ORDER THE BOOK !!!
This completed the series from the author. Very informative and has improved my game
