I own several tarot decks, mostly traditional. I have always wanted a fully illustrated deck but most that are available are either too simplified and cartoon-like or entirely too far-out and abstract. The Golden Tarot by Kat Black is exactly what I have been looking for. These beautiful cards have been digitally and seamlessly collaged from actual paintings dated in the medieval and renaissance periods (the same era from which the earliest known tarot decks appeared). Most, but not all, of the Rider-Waite symbolism is present for the devotees to that genre of divination and for catomancers like myself who wish for a pictorial deck that takes itself seriously (but not too much so, the occasional humor is subtle but its there). What actually surprised me, however, was the exceptional quality of the whole package. The cards themselves are made of a thick, golden-edged cardboard thats a little difficult to shuffle at first - a good thing. They also have a nice glossy finish that should hold up well to frequent use. The artwork. as I have already stated, is breathtaking. The LWB is thorough for its size and gives a card-by-card account of the origins of the artwork used. The box that it comes in is very sturdy and should last as long as the cards do (a first, I think). Finally, and probably most unexpectedly, is the price. I know that we are not supposed to quibble about price when it comes to purchasing occult items, but in these times a good deal is always welcome. I wont quote an exact dollar figure, as these things are always subject to change, but I will say that I paid less than $20 plus shipping. The Golden Tarot is, in my humble opinion, by far the best value on the market today. As I said in the first place, I own several decks - some of which were very pricey - and none of them can match the beauty or the physical quality of Kat Blacks literal masterpieces. Hats off to Kat Black and yet another home run for U.S. Games Systems!!!Read full review
Recommended by You Tube Tarot Readings. Beautiful pictures in the Baroque period. Book has better interpretations of spreads for more in-depth readings. Thanks!
