I first fell in love with this deck at leasr forty years ago after seeing it in a movie entitled GAMES. A great script and over the top acting by an early James Caan, Katherine Ross and a very savvy and ambitious large scaled grifter played by Simone Signoret. The deck "accidentally" fell out of her steamer trunk and you can take it from there. I bought the first deck at the now defunct Samuel Weiser's Occult Bookstore when it was famously located in NYC's East Village and the replacement decks at the Magickal Child. Although my grandmother taught me how to read cards with the Naipes Españoles I raised the bar and worked with this one as well and I'm not only grateful but happy that these were the first decks I was exposed to because when I saw the Rider-Waite-Smith cards I preferred the challenges of the former. The Major Arcana of the 1JJ are works of art and sensing that the card stock isn't the best I own three of this deck, one having a permanent area in my prayer space.Read full review

This deck is horrible. The faces are distorted and not pleasant to look at and the coloring makes everyone look as they have a skin rash. I wouldn't even give them as a gift to someone else because I don't want them to see this terrible art. It's better to buy a vintage 70-90's original Rider Waite if you are looking for something special.

US Games Systems finally got it right with this deck; it’s just about perfect. The images are sharp, with a nicely muted color scheme that correlates well with the art style. The card stock is just right; it’s substantial, but not so hefty as to be clunky. Also, the card backs are attractive and understated. Overall, what a lovely homage to Pamela Colman Smith. It’s a keeper.

This is a beautiful tarot of historical and artistic interest and one of the most sophisticated of the tarot de Marseille school. This deck is of a good size, 11.5 cm x 6.4 cm (box) and the cards make an impressive display when laid out in a spread. For people who enjoy a traditional tarot, this has to be one of the best.

Lovely deck. Smaller than standard but its perfect in its own way. The artwork is phenomenal, unlike anything I've seen. Furthermore, the card stock is high quality. The deck shuffles so smoothly. I really like this deck. I purchased it through a recommendation by Vincent Pitisci author of "Essential Tarot, unlocking the mystery". This book features the 1jj Swiss along with the Waite-Smith deck to teach enhancing tarot skills from images and pips, and how to correlate the two. Pitisci explains that 1jj Swiss is the first variant of Marseille. I'm so thrilled.
