This is a good intro book by Sylvia. She has a very conversational style about her writing/teachings. She uses plain down-to-earth language so the layperson can understand her feelings. I liked that she included some personal "flubs" like her marriage and child-rearing issues. It's nice when someone that others put on a pedestal takes themselves down a few pegs so as to humanize their other-worldly experiences.
I read this book and thought What a mess Sylvia's life is! She seems to promote the idea that people have to go through a load of crap in life because that is their lot in life because of reincarnation. I seriously question the accuracy of Sylvia's understanding of reincarnation. Her spiritual concepts seem to be a mishmash of messed up ideas about Catholicism, new age and mythology that she presents as factual history. I also question her connection to one single spirit guide for the entire span of her career. Francene should move on if Sylvia is progressing as a psychic. Most mediums I know who have been doing this work as long as Sylvia Browne do report that their spirit guides to change over time as they grow and develop as psychics. I work as a medium and find this book to be confusing and would not recommend it to new seekers or experienced readers either. More hype than usable content! There are much better books out there! I also have problems with Sylvia's ethics and therefore am not sure how much of what we see of her psychic work on TV is accurate. Mistakes happen but she has made some biggies and charges a lot of money to boot! While I do not share the view of one reviewer here who is coming from the Christian perspective I do think the site listed (http://www.stopsylviabrowne.com/)is a good site. Wrong predictions are only the tip of the iceberg with Sylvia... I am more concerned about how she has misrepresented her credentials in her books and ripped so many folks off with substandard psychic work... Buyer beware is the adage when it comes to Browne's books... Use common sense if it sounds convoluted it is and it does not have to be.... Sylvia Browne has come up with fantasy and managed to pawn it off on alot of uninformed people as truth. She quotes the Bible, but totally twists the meaning of what the Bible says. She does not believe that Jesus died on the cross so that we can have eternal life. She believes in multiple gods. She believes that every one goes to heaven, no matter how evil a person is. She is a pyschic and the Bible clearly states to stay away from pyschics and mediums. She mixes a little truth with alot of falsehood and outright lies. Her book "The beautiful Side of Evil and "Like Lambs to the Slaughter", expose alot of these lies. Sylvia Browne is a wonderful writer and psychic. Through her books that she writes, her guest appearances on many shows, including Montel Williams, and the many readings she does for people, she gives people hope. She reminds us that we are here for a reason and why we are here and where we will go when we are finished with this “school″. In her books about the many miracles that happen all the time. She has shared her ability by letting people know how a loved one is doing after they have passed. And puts smiles back on peoples faces that had not smiled for many months or years by letting them know that a loved one that has passed has a message for just for them. And only they would know that, that message could not have come from any one else except that particular loved one. Sylvia Browne is not a profit and she would be the first one to tell you that she is none other than a human being that has such a wonderful gift that she shares with all of us. when you read her books, you will have a familier feeling that you know in your heart of hearts that what she writes is true. Once you read one of her books, you will want to read more of her books. You will feel hope and a sense of peace, you will know the truth.Read full review
