A terrific specialty lens
This lens is likely not for everyone. However, for the photographer who does a lot of architectural and interior photography, or who likes expansive landscapes, this is a great lens. I compared it at a setting of (close to) 15mm and it equals, or exceeds, the sharpness of my fixed focal length 15mm f3.6 Nikkor, my other favorite for architectural photography. It also beats my fixed focal length (older) 24mm f2.8 manual AIS lens (used in manual mode on my Nikon F4S film and D3x digital camera bodies). The only downside is that it is not a small and lightweight lens, so for casual travel photography, this would be a lot to carry around, especially with one of the larger Nikon digital SLR bodies. There is also minimal barrel distortion that I noted at the 14mm setting. This could be corrected in the various photo manipulation software packages if needed.Read full review

fantastic lens
I'd never had an opportunity to spend "quality time" with a very wide angle lens like this - it takes some getting used to (and I'm definitely still getting used to it) but it opens up a great range of new perspectives (i just have to make sure my feet stay out the frame! :-) ) The f/2.8 makes it fast enough to shoot in lower light, and with the wide angle you have tremendous depth of field so focus is very forgiving too. very rectilinear - amazingly so, should be a fun lens - hope i can do it justice ...

Pro: Sharp Fast Wide Consistent f/2.8 aperture Works on FX and DX bodies Well made Auto focus motor in lens is fast and quiet Barreling at the 18mm and 24mm focal lengths is less than my manual focus AIS prime lenses Lens works well with my other Nikon f/2.8 zoom lenses (20-35mm, 35-70mm, 80-200mm) Keeps straight-lines straight (does not bend straight lines like my 16mm fisheye) Con: High price Large lens; not inconspicuous Large exposed glass in front of lens is subject to damage Front of lens blocks light from built-in flash No depth of field scale No filter thread on front or back of lens No f/stop ring; f/stop must be set through the camera body (my biggest complaint) Lens does not work on my Nikon F2 because F2 needs an f/stop ring to set aperture and this “G” lens does not have one. On Nikon F4 and N70, this “G” lens works only in shutter priority mode and program mode On my Nikon F4 and N70, this “G” lens does not work in aperture priority mode or manual modeRead full review

This wide angle lens is a great complement. It allows you to get the widest shot and still have good depth with low lighting. The f2.8 is constant throughout the range 14-24. I got some nice pictures of opening day. Everything is in focus!

NIKKOR 14-24 Great Real Estate/landscape Lense
The Angry Photographer on YouTube says Nikon makes hundreds of lens, but as a Realtor, we have to have this one and either the 10-24 or (better quality12-24) Nikon lenses. I purchased used on EBay and have been using them both for video and HDR photos through Photomatix 5.1.3 software. Huge improvement in my photos with bracketing. Using Nikon D7200 camera. Phenomenal clarity even in low lighting. Great lens
