This is one of DB's later albums, and it's a weird one. If you like his more experimental music, you'll love this. No pseudo-discoized crap here.

Outside is an epic 1995 concept album by David Bowie. It is a joint production effort by Bowie and former Roxy Music member Brian Eno, also featuring guitarists Carlos Alomar and Reeves Gabrels. Bowie took a very different approach to his music on this album, aside from the fact that this album is written as one long conceptual story; it is definitely one of his most experimental albums. There is a wealth of interesting material here, and Bowie assumes the role of several different characters to tell the tale of a group of modern murderers who create art with there victims. It is very difficult to describe the music on this album; I don’t think it fits into any one category. It changes drastically from song to song; some border on UK drum and bass, others modern rock, experimental, modern jazz, synth. Even though it is hard to describe and category, there is a nice balance in the sound of this album and the story concept holds it all together. David Bowie is an amazing musician; he took this as an opportunity to branch out into a different sound on this recording. He has definitely taken on many different personalities to portray on his albums in the past; and his music has always been way before its time and this album is no exception!Read full review
