10cc were one of the best British pop groups of the '70s, and one of the most idiosyncratic -- their albums were carefully constructed exercises in studio craftsmanship, with clever tunes and lush production that made them delectable ear candy. But the polish was wrapped around lyrics that put a satiric twist on their subject matter, ranging from showbiz conventions to prison riots, filling them with a dry and very British wit that set a sour edge against the musical sweetness. While the group's founders, Kevin Godley and Lol Creme, left the group and went on to a duo career in the late '70s (and enjoyed a successful sideline directing music videos), various factions of 10cc would periodically reunite the act over the years, and this 2008 live recording documents a concert by a lineup that includes original members Kevin Godley and Graham Gouldman, as well as Rick Fenn, Mick Wilson, Mike Stevens, and Paul Burgess. Live in Concert: Clever Clogs includes such hits as "The Things We Do for Love," "I'm Not in Love," "Dreadlock Holiday," "Rubber Bullets," and "Donna." In addition, Gouldman performs a mini-set of pop hits he wrote in the '60s, including "Bus Stop," "No Milk Today," and "For Your Love." ~ Mark Deming
