I've been filling out my CD collection with CDs of albums that I already own on LP, because it's easier to pop in a CD than it is to get the LPs out and put them on a turntable. I bought About Face back when it first came out on in LP format. I think it's Gilmour's best solo album. His first one (self-titled "David Gilmour") is his second best. About Face starts off with the hard tremelo'd "Until We Sleep", which is one of the three best tracks on the album. "Blue Light" is another notable standout, and "All Lovers Are Deranged" rounds out the primary trio of great tracks on About Face. This is not to say the other tracks aren't good, but these 3 are the standouts. About Face shows a wide range of styles for Gilmour. Some reminiscent of Pink Floyd, whereas others seem to be worlds away from the PF style. This too is a good thing, because you want enough in there to recognize that it's Dave, but you don't want it to sound like Floyd, otherwise, you might as well just listen to Floyd. Anyone who's a Pink Floyd or David Gilmour needs this album in their collection. If you don't get any other Gilmour solo album, get this one.Read full review

One of David's "Must Have" collection. I have the original 12" LP. Now I can safely tuck the "12 away.. This one and his first solo album are fantastic.
