If you like funk jazz fusion than this is your album! This is Miles at his funky finest - getting his groove on! The album does need more bass but that is how it was recorded live. The album is a double album consisting of 97 minutes of uplifting flowing funky goodness from the trumpet master and a great ensemble of musicians. Agharta released in 1976, is about as far into fusion jazz as Miles got, beside the album Pangaea which is probably half step further into his forays into this sub-genre of music. If you enjoy, live Parliament/Funkadelic albums from the 1970's, you will love this album. Enjoy! Michael Henderson: Bass Pete Cosey: Guitar, Synth, Percussion Al Foster: Drums Reggie Lucas: Guitar Mtume: Congas, Percussion, Water Drum, Rhythm Box
first of all this is a great recording...japanese engineers did this one and it shows in it's nice mix...this is the most far out miles davis acid rock style music and pangea should be purchased to complement the show...this was the afternoon show I think...miles' playing is sparse but very on when it's there...but all the other solists are impeccable in the approach...the guitars are over the top as well as dave liebman's solos...a true must have to experience what the miles rock style could accomplish...real good stuff
