    The Worst of Al Di Meola

    As a youngster of 14 I fell in love with Al Di Meola's record, "Elegant Gypsy" from 1977, which I believe is out of print now so if you have it take good care of it. So when I saw this "Best Of" I jumped on it, but it holds no resemblance to the Gypsy, and is pure elevator music. If you want some easy listening or if that is what you are into, or need some background music for a stuffy dinner party, or 'on hold' music for your phone system then this may be your thing, but compared to his early work this is disappointing. Save your money and find a good used copy of Elegant Gypsy and see what Al Di Meola is really about. I cannot recommend this unless you are really into elevator music.
