Great CD that plays from Track 1 thru and sounds great all the way, with the ONLY Problem being that it is a Poor Recording with background fuzz -- therefore you must listen to this at a higher volume than normal just to hear the words and play with your Bass and Treble settings... But once it starts, you KNOW the voice, deep and raspy and full of pain, to be the one and only late Layne Staley (lead Singer of Alice in Chains) & with better guitar and drumming on this CD, it stands up to ANY Alice in Chains CD aside from their 1st... I bought this because I heard a song called "River of Despair" on TV and found the CD the only place I know it will be for sure = eBay!! I found a few NEW Sealed copies and Purchased one for $5 with a $6 S&H fee, for a TOTAL of almost $12.00 (Still at least $5+ Cheaper than a record store)!! The CD Arrived in a Bubble Mailer, so the Jewel Case was destroyed - but I really do NOT care at all about those as I use a CD Book to hold the Discs and Booklets (both of which are 100% Perfect despite the smashed Jewel Case)!! I am glad I bought it as it shows what Layne Staley was suffering through with his Addiction during the last few months of his life, and is a raw, emotional CD that was likely released for the sole purpose of MONEY since it came out almost a Decade after Layne's Death - but it still is a Great CD by Very Talented musicians Highlighted by the deep and dark vocals of Staley & unfortunately THIS is THE LAST TIME we will EVER get to hear that voice again. Don't do drugs, they ruin everyone's lives, as proven by the True Pain you hear in Layne's Voice and the words he wrote about drugs, addiction, the pain it caused, losing everything, etc... all for him to pass away from an OD just weeks after the recordings for this CD were finished!! **So IF you love lice in Cains, you will love this CD and should already have it (Under $1 used and about $10 New on eBay), you just cannot go wrong with this great CD!!Read full review
For fans of Alice in Chains and/or Pearl Jam, this is a must have album. This was a collaborative project including Layne Staley (Alice in Chains) on vocals and Mike McCready (Pearl Jam) on guitar. The album is not overwhelmingly heavy as some might expect, as slower, melodic tunes such as 'River of Deceit' and 'Wake Up' are the highlights. However, it does not disappoint the die-hard rockers with awesome jams like the instrumental 'November Hotel'. Staley's unique vocal style is solid on this album, but McCready's guitar work here is what does it for me. I think even casual rock fans will find something on this album they can enjoy.
I recieved this cd,in great condition. I am a big fan of alice n chains music, and Layne Staley, their lead singer, now diseased, was the lead singer for Mad Season. This is an awesome cd,lots of Bass, and guitar riff's,very fast paced music, then all of a sudden it slows to a crawl,I had this cd years ago when it came out, got it from a friend that sang in his own band, with simular style. I love this cd,but it is'nt for everyone, I would sample before I buy,but as far as me, I am very pleased with this purchase.
One of the best grunge albums ever made and certainly one of my favorites. This is a supergroup consisting of Layne Staley from Alice in Chains, Mike McCready from Pearl Jam, Barrett Martin and occasionally Mark Lanegan from Screaming Trees, as well as Baker from the Walkabouts on bass. Buy this album.

Heard “river of deceit” on a tv show and looked for who and where I could get it. This is hands down one amazing album/cd! Sadly 2 members are no longer with us, but the music lives on! This is a must have for all music fans! There is a blues vibe on a few songs, and they are all well written and performed! So glad to have this!
