The Romances and melodies of Francesco Paolo Tosti (1846 †1916) belong to the story of the nineteenth century, and reflect more than one aspect of Italian culture. The sincerity and authentic inspiration of Tosti work have attracted the greatest interpreters since they appeared, including Enrico Caruso. The greatest singers of the century succumbed to the fascination of his melodies - among them is Luigi Alva (born 1927), a Peruvian operatic tenor who was active in the second half of the 20th century who became famous for his interpretations of Mozart and Rossini. To this collection of some of the finest of Tosti songs, Luigi Alva brings an intimate, lyrical style that evokes the salon of the nineteenth century and places these gems of the singer art in their ultimate setting. This rare audiophile recording from the late 1950 has been newly remastered.
