Actually writing about this release is a bit nonsense since it's a compilation of two separate releases related with each other only by the name of the band, Angra. "Freedom Call" EP was released as a follow-up to "Holy Land" album and included several tracks, which were previously only available on various comiplations like Judas Priest tribute album ("Painkiller") or Japanese releases ("Queen Of The Night", which has nothing to do with "Holy Land" concept as singer Andre Matos used to say). Some of those tracks were remixed or updated for this release. "Holy Live" EP is a great example of Angra in the live situation recorded during the Holy Land tour around the world (the entire recording took place in Paris). Unfortunately it has only 6 tracks - which is a huge drawback for Angra since it sounded really awesome and perfect. Concerning the compilation itself, you get 2 separate booklets with all the information you need (obviously without lyrics for live album). Consider how expensive Japanese releases of those albums are and how much it would cost you to get those 2 albums separately - and you get a big bang for your buck!Read full review
Following the brilliance of their second album Holy Land, Angra released the mini album Freedom Call and a short live album called Holy Live. If you are an Angra fan or just a fan of Holy Land then this purchase should be a no brainer! Freedom Call contains three new songs that are in the vein of Holy Land, a cover of "Painkiller" by Judas Priest, and two remixes of previously released songs. All the songs have a great vibe that should warrant a purchase! Holy Live is also as great as one would expect, but the real highlight is "Carolina IV". Just this one song is worth getting as it has a great intro and outro that feels very unique; how wonderful it is to have been captured for our enjoyment!
