Carl Barat has emerged from the shadows of former band mate Peter Doherty and former band The Libertines with his new band Dirty Pretty Things. Waterloo To Anywhere is their debut album and I absolutely LOVE it. Anyone who loved The Libertines will love this album also. It’s what rock’n’roll should sound like. I’d say it’s little grittier than the romanticized Arcadian dreams of The Libertines. This album exceeded my expectations I had for it. It’s SO good in fact that I picked it up on vinyl as well. Carl Barat uses this album as a platform to settle some old scores. One would assume he is singing directly to Pete on ‘Bang Band Your Dead’ and to Wolfman for his negative influences on Pete on ‘Blood Thirsty Bastards’ and ‘Doctors & Dealers’. My favorite track on the record is the ode to hedonism ‘Wondering”. A true music fan will not be disappointed with this album. Every track is excellent! Bravo Mr. Barat, I can’t wait for the encore.....Read full review
Dirty pretty things CD & DVD was hard to buy in my country and if I ever find one in my country, it was more expensive than eBay. So I decided to buy it and it was brilliant! Of course I love the songs like bang bang you're dead, deadwood, the gentry cove and more..and especially I liked the dvd. It was worth buying:)
decent cd, a fairly talented band that copies some other decent bands...ie artic monkeys and so on.... let's see what the next album is like
Great Album i love it, its better than i hoped for. If you were suffering from withdrawl symptoms when the Libertines called it a day then this will be just the pick me up from ex-Libertine Carlos Barat & co. I would recommend it to anyone, now i cant wait to go and see them live! Stand out tracks in my opinion are new single 'Deadwood', 'Gin and Milk', 'You F**kin' love it', but the whole album is full of great lyrics, memorable riffs and Carls voice sounds great on his own without Pete. i would recommend this as THE great album of this summer, and next stop Ebay to try and get a red-hot ticket for one of their sold out gigs.
Great come back by Carl Barat! Whilst Pete Doherty has been grabbing all the headlines Carl Barat must have been plotting this amzing return to form! Allowed to express himself with former Libertine Gary Powell and grabbing Didz from The Cooper Temple Clause Dirty Pretty Things had to be one of the most eagerly awited bands! They didn't disapoint! An awesome return to form, reminisant of the early days of the Libs with their passion and rawness!
