Being familiar with the Mahavishnu Orchestra's earlier work, I found this album to be a little harder to get into primarily because of the inclusion of the London Symphony Orchestra on the record and less of the rock/ jazz fusion elements. However, I do find it to be very enjoyable and does stack up against their other albums. The album although short, does take you on a epic sonic trip and leaves you wanting to replay again. Like a lot of jazz fusion music it is an acquired taste and will be rewarding with repeated listens. I would thoroughly recommend this album (and their other albums) to anyone who has a taste in eclectic/ experimental music.
The guitarist John McLaughin's work here is fantastic. The strings and the Orchestra are wonderful and Chick Corea's wife Gayle Moran has a wonderful cameo here . . . short and sweet this is a great buy and a must listen!
