Apostrophe is the quintessential Zappa album. Every song is a delightfully twisted work of art by the genius of social satire. From the classic "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" to "Stinkfoot," every cut is not only hilariously clever, but sing-along tuneful. Some of his other albums, though rich in the same satire, are a bit too crowded with stereotypical rants, like the songs "Disco Boy", "Catholic Girls", and Valley Girl" to name a few. Other albums contain long instrumentals that can get a little tedious in spite of his great skill as a lead guitarist. But every song on Apostrophe is like an old Looney Tunes cartoon that didn't make it past the censors. I highly recommend Apostrophe to anyone just discovering Frank Zappa. Afterwards, explore his other albums for an even more expansive taste of his warped point of view (or maybe not so warped, depending on your own point of view).Read full review
