I held off buying this cd for a long long time, mainly because it was too folky. I looked at the lineup of artists that participated in the recording and decided to pass on it. For the heck of it, I placed a bid on ebay and unexpectedly won. I must say, I'm glad I didn't pay full price for the cd. Not that it's bad, but rather, too different. It's not the McGuinn trademark sound that I've come to love over the past 40 years. And I anticipated that. The change is too dramatic for me, in style and sound. I'd be willing to bet that most McGuinn followers would agree. Not surprisingly, my favorite cuts are the ones that are accompanied with the Rickenbacker. If McGuinn has plans for future folk cd's, I'd like to see him utilize that formula.................including the Rickenbacker throughout the entire recording. Even if it means using it lightly. It's presence makes a world of difference. It's amazing how much it improves the overall sound.Read full review
