Live recording and conversation with Ian Anderson at the end. I only wish that the comments were with the songs that they were about and not just added on at the end of the CD. I bought this copy to replace the handout we received at the concert.

I liked it but this version of Tull didn't sound as tight as the 1970s lineup. Ian and Martin were spot on with their roles. But they rest of the band seemed a little lost. I'd only recommend this for true fans of the band. Casual listeners may want to stick with the original studio version.

Back in the 70s, Jethro Tull was a band that my friends and I followed closely. In fact, I've seen the band eleven times, in my life. My Tull collection (on vinyl) was replaced, bit by bit with CDs, including the original studio recording of Aqualung. And then I happenned across this LIVE re-creation of the landmark 'Aqualung'. This CD was put out in limited quantity by XM radio, who thought that it would be a great idea to approach classic bands and ask them to perform in front of small, invitation-only audiences while they recoeded them. I am VERY impressed with the recording quality - and even more impressed with the performance. The only members of Tull that I knew (from the past), on this recording, were Ian Anderson, of course, and Martin Barre. The newer band members filled the bill perfectly. The album came alive quite nicely - 'with amendments' as Ian tells prior to one tune. The majority of the numbers were kept in tact - with some added 'extra' arrangements. There isn't a bad song, here - and a lot of nice surprises. The last few 'tracks' are of Ian Anderson explaining and/or pontificating on the album and his music. This is a real collectable, for the avid Tull fan. But unlike collectable 'must have' albums that may serve more toward 'novelty' then listenability (The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl is an extreme example of such), Aqualung - Live is as good as it gets for even the first time Tull fan.Read full review
Anyone who likes Aqualung will love this all fairly recent live version ..Although Ian struggled with vocals as he grew older his flute playing improved to the point where vocals no longer mattered. Martin Barre owns this album..Any Tull fan knows that Aqualung wouldn't be Aqualung without him

All time great band with a live recording of their greatest album. I’m off to the park bench.
