"The Aristocrats" a review! This CD/Album is from the movie of the same name. From what I understand this is the work of Paul Provenza and Penn Jillette. Honestly, don't know a thing about Paul Provenza, Penn Jillette, I know from the magic team of "Penn & Teller." I've attended two of "Penn & Teller's" magic shows once each in LA & Dallas. Both times P&T where the best, I recomend their magic show very highly. Also, I listen fathfully to Penn Jillette's radio program, via podcasts, Penn can be a very funny guy. However, this CD/Album of something called "The Aristocrats" is another matter. It is a collection of a hundred or so comedians all telling different versions of the same inside joke. The trick here is for the listener to get on the inside, which is not easy. For this is a vulgar, gross "piss & shit" joke, if you enjoy piss & shit in your jokes you might like this. This is the kind of joke that comedians tell each other in the wee hours of the night when they meet up at the all night deli, it is not the type of joke they normally use in their acts. The piss & shit in this joke is an aquired taste and tells the depth that a family will go to make it in show business, I found it all in bad taste and not funny and I find most anything funny. I did not like any part of the CD/album and can not recomend it, the moments with Pat Cooper where the worst. I tried to like it, I really did, but it didn't work for me. If you're a block head like me, who has always had difficulty understanding inside jokes, forget it, spend your money elsewhere. I think this is a matter of either you love it or you hate it, there just ain't any in between. Mush like the wasted time with Pat Cooper, another moment of you either love him or hate him.Read full review
