Like many people out there I bought this album on the strength of the single,'Wide Open Space'. Ten years ago I wasn't disappointed and I still listen to the album a lot now - how many other albums can you say that for? Along with 'Wide Open Space', there are the other fantastic signels 'Taxloss', 'Egg Shaped Fred', 'Stripper Vicar' and 'She Makes My Nose Bleed' but other highlights are 'The Chad Who Loved Me', 'Disgusting' and 'Mansun's OnlY Love Song' (not to mention the bonus track, the interestinly named 'An Open Letter To A Lyrical Trainspotter'. Another thing about this album is that the songs merge into one another, so it's almost like listening to a story (about a vicar's daughter called Mavis... I kid you not!!?). Unfortunately the band split up a few years ago now, so there's no chance you'll be able to go and see this fantastic act live, but out of all of the Mansun album's this is the best place to start. Instantly it weedles it's way into your brain and 10 years later, like me, you'll still be coming back for more!Read full review
Good album, stand out tracks wide open space, tax loss and stipper vicar. I also like their song called legacy, think thats on another album though. Recommended, especially for about 3 quid off e bay!
Solid album with some choice songs like Taxloss and the great Wide Open Space. Has a wide range of styles all mashed together. Kind of like a housey version of oasis but better than it sounds. And its a whole lot better than hanson.
AS THE TITLE SAYS WHY DIDN'T THEY MAKE IT BIG GREAT SONGS GREAT VOICE MAYBE TOO LATE TO BE GOTHY TOO DARK TO BE BRIT POP TOO EARLY FOR THE EMO'S BRILLIANT STUFF
i only bought the album for one particular song that is on it, 'wide open space', but after listening to it i am happy that i decided to purchase the album and not the single
