It was about 1990 when I first heard "Head On" on our local college radio station. There was something about this song that just made it a perfect mix of everything. Buying the album soon thereafter did not disappoint in any way. The Reid brothers' mix of sorrow and anger, along with the edgy guitar and vocals blended in a really great way. They sounded like nothing else out there at the time. This has to be one of my all time favorite albums.
Once again I am amazed at how much of an influence these guys had on artists like Mike Knott and The Lassie Foundation and The Violet Burning etc. If I didn't know better I would think that this was a Knott album. Too bad I didn't discover The Jesus And Mary Chain first. I wouldn't have needed all those other CDs in my collection. 5 Stars.
This is a great CD from the late 80's that flew a little below the mainstream radar, but it is chock full of grinding guitar riffs and gravelly lyrics that make you want to press the pedal to the metal.
As usual, the Reid Brothers deliver! Any JAMC fan is going to love this CD. The signature sound is there!
