I bought this cd mainly for the same reason that many other's did. After the untimely death of the late Michael Jackson, the media was flooded with this final clip from one of the last rehearsals which featured this blonde session musician, better known in the biz as a "Gun For Hire" playing this riff to one of the songs she and michael were rehearsing. it was just enough to make me curious/ who was this Gal playing the Ax? where did she come from from? had she played with anyone else prior? So It started there. after a relatively small amount of research, the mystery was solved and i was on my way to actually purchasing her work. her cd. i could now check her out! i received her cd today and it took me basically one play through to give it a review that i feel is true and honest. So hear goes. As an over all artist she "rocks!" by that I mean she has a sweet voice to match her musicianship. However, as for the actual cd, i must say that i was or am a little disappointed. In the words of Donnie & Marie, this cd is alittle bit country and a little bit rock in roll. nothing wrong with that unless you are expecting a totally hard core shredding 11 track cd. then you will understand where im coming from. She is not all to blame. for she like we all are a product of our enviroment. No thanks to American Idol! But the cd in my opinion goes from one extreme to another , song to song. instead of staying pretty consistent, it deviates to much for my likings. As if she herself is some how lost in all this music and trying desperately to find her musical I.D., vocally she has a pretty but kinda generic sound as far as she sounds like every other female artist out there right now from flyleaf, to faith hill! back to the guitar which is why i bought this cd really. again, her playing is excellent, just not enough for me. i would promote her playing abilities for most and include more than her vocals, if i was her producer. or if i had produced this cd. anyway, the cd i also noticed is kinda divided into two halves. the 1st 4 out of 11 tracks are pretty consistent with the exception of one. the 2nd half may be a little bit harder again with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 tracks. my favorites in my opinion are : tracks ,6. think like a man, 7.whats it gonna be?, and 10.Highly Strung. the only conclusion i can come up with is that she can play any style and wants to portray that in on one cd by shifting gears from one extreme to another, but over all its a good cd, that i will keep or at least hold onto for a long time. like i said, 1 play. i'll have to give it a few months playing it while driving etc to see if it grows on me more or less. I give it a 7 out of 10 or a C+ to a B- last words. id have to say, its worthy of adding to one's collection! thank you.Read full review
The original Believe seems to have a bit more raw production over the Believe II offering, which seems to be produced to sell the radio audiance. I was first inspired by her guitar skills while watching a clip of Michael Jackson's final tour. She was personaly chosen by Michael as his lead guitarist for her abilities and stage presence. This Austrailian born talent has natural beauty, charm and can bend the strings with the best there is. Her musical style is a combination of strait forward Bluesy Rock and Pop, without following the hook of mainstream bands. I would have prefered a bit more of her guitar abilities being showcased in the production of both albums. The music is uplifting, yet could use a bit more back beat as well as the forementioned guitar emphasis. This lady works off her own natural skills as a musician, singer, song writer and her producer's should emphasise it.Read full review
i'm 66 years old and i was watching ellen degeneres show not long ago and a band called orianthi came on the screen. in the late sixtys and early seventys i saw hendrix live 3 times, once from the front row. and this 24 year old lady from orianthi reminds me of hendrix, clapton, santana, page and a few other greats from the past. this young lady has excelled at the very highest level with her kick ass band and incredible guitar pickin', and i cannot wait to see orianthi live!!!!!!!!!!
When I record CD I usually delete most of the songs. I had no ideal Orianthi had so many great songs. I'm keeping ever one.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
I was first exposed to "Suffocated" on Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, and fell in love with the riffs. Although the CD has a slightly "pop" feel to it at times, the underlying guitar virtuosity shines through. Orianthi is one of the best guitarists out there today - I highly recommend this CD.
