The episode featuring The Who as musical guest was . . . uncomfortable. It was a folk music show and the Brothers acted like Roger Daltry and his boys were aliens. AND, the band wore rediculous tuxedos. It was worth the price just to see this episode.

When the Smothers Brothers produced their show in 1967, 68 and 69 they were faced with many of the same challenges in government, politics, race relations, and gender equality then as we are now. These shows are timeless. If they were not dated you would think it was taking place in our present day. These shows were far ahead of their time. What can now be said on television goes far beyond what could be said then, and has minimal censor editing. In addition, the singing quality of the Smothers Brothers is excellent. Their vocal harmony, instrument skills, and background introduction of their songs is unparalleled by any artists of today. How they were able to perform at such a high level of singing quality as well as interweaving threads of political humor into the performance appeared to be so simple, but at the same time it was so well timed and well written from a very high-brow level that made it so entertaining. For anyone that remembers the Smothers Brothers show this DVD set is a must-have. It is also a time-capsule of the late 60's. I had forgotten about the riots surrounding the 1968 Democratic convention (most of my memories were more related to peace, free love and non-violence). Not so! This was also a very volatile period in our history, right in the middle of the Vietnam war. In Season 3 of the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, the brothers ably expressed their political views but still provided an entertaining comedy show. It's fun to see the Jim Morrison and Doors, a very young Kenny Rogers and the First Edition, Steve Martin, Cass Elliot, etc., etc. I also enjoyed seeing segments of the musical "Hair" - something I had heard about for years but never seen. Do not hesitate to purchase this DVD set if you are a Smothers Brothers fan!Read full review
Very enjoyable watching memories of the past. The Smothers Brothers planted the seed for TV shows to criticize our country's political stands.
