Additional information
Typically, best-of compilations tend to be aimed toward bringing the casual listener up to speed with some of a band's best moments. Looking to offer something for both new fans and Yes diehards, The Very Best of Yes pairs a 13-track greatest-hits collection with a DVD of live material. While the CD of hits opens with the band's highest charting track, "Owner of a Lonely Heart," the rest of the track list sticks to earlier material like "Roundabout" and "Starship Trooper." The DVD portion, previously released on its own as The Lost Broadcasts, collects the band's 1969 and 1971 performances on the German music show Beat-Club, as well as a 1970 performance of "Time and a Word" from Belgian television and the video for "Owner of a Lonely Heart." With its concise track list and collector-friendly video performances, The Very Best of Yes is a solid collection with a little something for everyone. ~ Gregory Heaney
