I've been a fan of Styx since the early 1980's and I own all of the bands studio material, and I've even been lucky enough to see them perform live so when this release of classic rock songs was released I pounced on it in anticipation. Styx covers a wide range of material here, from the 'boys from Liverpool' The Beatles track leads the cd off with a great rendition of "I am the Walrus"...goo, goo g'joob! Continuing onward they pull off a terrific version of the Traffic classic "Can't find my way home"...it even almost sounds like Steve Winwood is on vocals here! Perhaps my favorite track on this entire disk is the take on the classic Hendrix tune "Manic Depression", the vocals, the guitar work and the percussion is driving, soulful and so well done that even Jimi (if he were here) woulda been made proud!Read full review
Awesome covers of some really great songs. Every member of the band is quite talented. Blue collar Man revisited was bodaciously awesome. I think most Styx fans will love this. Reached #46 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums. Styx's highest charting album in 14 years.

Up front I have to say I'm a huge Styx fan going way back, even through the period where critics hated them circa 1983 and the whole Mr. Roboto thing. After their 2003 "comeback" CD Cyclorama, which was a near-perfect disk, I had high hopes for this one. And I liked it, but it's just not their best work. Do we really need another CD of cover tunes, even from a band as versatile as Styx? There are highlights, such as I Don't Need No Doctor and the rocked-up I Am The Walrus, but overall I would say to just listen to the originals of most of these songs if you want the best versions. I give it a B-.
Very good CD. You can hear versatile this band is. From different musicstiles they formed good songs. My favorite is the cover version "one way out" from Elmore James. They didn`t cover the songs one to one - They made their own interpretation and that is what I like at this CD. You can hear how much fun they`got as they made it. I heared it the first time at a internet radio from california and I ordrerd at the same day. If you like good music - hear by yourself - listen to this CD.
The CD is great, Styx puts it all on the line with the covers they have picked for this CD. It is a great way to see or hear how the boys in Styx can play without having to hear all their old stuff "Like we all have over and over again". It starts with I Am A Walrus a cover of the Beatles song with the same name, it is as good as the orginal by the Beatles. Then it goes on to the other songs which are put together great. The CD is worth buying just for the first song but then you get a plus with all the others on it. I would give this an excellent rating and would highly recommend it. Thanks, Loren
