This album is my fourth album in discovering Frisell's output. I just admire music of that man. His guitars always charm my senses. Good Dog, Happy Man is a suit of very calm and joyful compositions, which personally make me relaxed and optimistic every time I listen to it. You'll find there great blend of electric, steel and acoustic guitars, bass, subtle percussion and organ or piano. The music is so nice and gentle, that You'll feel sorry when it ends, not mentioning turning it off in a middle. I decided to buy it, because I loved my three former Frisell's albums ("B.Frisell with D.Holland & E.Jones", "East, West" and "Unspeakable"). But this one sends different emotions. Like I said, joy, happiness and peace is the message.
This music is excellent. It works on many levels, and although people are probably a fan of Mr. Bill Frisell for his jazz guitar, this album can be appreciated for the folk, rootsy vibes it paints. The title track, 'Good Dog, Happy Man' is the icing on the cake--such a beautiful sound and warm feeling that it evokes. Although, I still want this on vinyl, I settled on the cd in the meantime because the vinyl commands a crazy high price. Happy to have this as part of my collection.
