I first saw This album on everyone's best of the year and/or best of the decade lists...and read a review or two. One listen/watch of "Stillness is the Move" on Youtube got me to immediately find a Buy it now option. From start to finish this whole disc is absolutely masterwork. It has a touch of artsy, quirkiness, but after a listen or two every track sticks in your head as much as a piece of top 40 fluff does-but this is real music and won't make you mad that it's stuck there. The song structure, arrangements and guitar work throughout are stellar and unconventional-but each piece stays accessible. And I can't omit the vocal work and arrangements. The three female voices-Angel, Amber and Haley. The work is more that of using each of their voices as an individual instrument as they intertwine patterns around and back and forth and together again with one another-like a trio (or quartet, if you include David's voice) of instruments-and it is rarely actual words that they are singing. This is a truly great piece of work. I recommend it to you if you want something really great that isn't in the conformist tradition of modern music.Read full review
