I first heard this album at the time before cds in 1976, and I could not stop listening to it. The song I Dreamed Last Night is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Just listen to Justin's words and you will fell the same way if you are a Moodies fan. Now when I have a bad day I just put my Blue Jays cd on and it makes it better. Justin and John really put their all into this cd . They have been together so long, they make such beautiful music magic that only the two Js can create ! But of course you Moodies fans know that THE MOODY BLUES make music magic like no other band ever. Buy this one of a kind with just the two Js and you will never stop listening to it through the years, I still do, like Justin says OH I DREAMED LAST NIGHT I WAS HEARING, HEARING YOUR VOICE AND THE THINGS YOU SAID WELL THEY LEFT ME, LEFT ME NO CHOICE. You will have no choice because you will love this cd with Justin and John.Read full review
I have always loved this recording ever since 1975 when I first heard it! It is truly amazing. Justin Hayward, one gorgeous fox, I must add, is SWEET EYE-CANDY... and John Lodge's voices mesh, superbly! If you loved the Moody Blues, you've got to hear these guys as a duo... They have Moody Blues overtones, with a twist of ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) feel to many of these masterpieces... ((EXAMPLE: When You Wake Up.)) Some of my favorites are: My Brother (anyone with a distant, wondering brother might relate); Remember Me, My Friend (another sheer MASTERPIECE!); I Dreamed Last Night (a dream-like vision of sleepless nights... missing that special loved one!); and Maybe (Maybe, this world's falling down, call out the trumpeters, and knock them all down... 1970's stoner-music at its very best!), You (a bittersweet tale of indifference, as the author tries to understand what is transpiring in the relationship, or lack of), and others. (All ten tracks are amazing!) These mens harmonies are truly amazing! They blend like the Carpenters, minus the family connection. If you want to kick back and enjoy some sweet sounds of Yesterday, this CD is for you! I give it a huge, TWO-THUMBS-UP award! Sheer relaxing bliss! -MJ in MinnesotaRead full review
This is a worthy album of beautiful mellow music by 2 of the best. But is it like a Moodies album? No - every true Moodies album must have the inspiration of Mike Pinder - the heart and sould of the band.

These songs penned by Hayward/Lodge are excellent. Lyrics are evocative and pristine, more sincere than the mainstream Moody Blues CD's--much like Hayward's "Songwriter" album. My only quibble is the sound quality of the CD. I don't know that generation the mass-produced CD I got is, but it's definately not the best quality. If Mobile Fidelity produced a version of this album, try for it. It's definately worth the extra money to have a great-sounding copy of this CD is your collection.
My wife has always been Moody Blues fan, but had never heard Blue Jays. I had this recording on vinyl since the 1970s, but she had never heard it. This sounds like a later MB album, but with the orchestra arrangements from the album that may their reputation. Strong melodies, good guitar work, and plenty of the over-the-top bombast typical of the group. It was fun playing a "new" Moody Blues album for my wife.
