Brave New World - Steve Miller Band, (Rock) (CD 1989 & 1994) Original Album Release Early 1969. Third album by the Steve Miller Band, the first without Boz Skaggs contributing his songwriting skills and supplementing Miller's excellent guitar work. This album continues the social commentary contained on the first two albums, this time showcased by the title track, "Brave New World". The hit off this album, "Space Cowboy" with it's self referenced lyrics to Millers other songs, became an underground anthem of sorts for a generation of youth. Miller made use of numerous other artists of the time on various tracks of this album. The most notable was Paul McCartney (credited on the album as Paul Ramon) playing drums on "My Dark Hour". This album is just under thirty minutes of music, which is short, even by the standards of the '60's, where the limitations of vinyl pressing techniques limited both sides to a total of about 45 minutes. However, in my opinion the 29 plus minutes are well worth the cost of the CD. All in all, a great addition to a late '60's music CD collection. Definitely a required aquisition for any serious Steve Miller fan.Read full review

I've waited a long time to find this record on CD. Great Steve Miller material, although the recording and mixes have not stood up as well as I thought they would. That being said, it's still good to hear these tracks without the snap, crackle and pop of vinyl. And "My Dark Hour" with Paul McCartney? 'Nuff Said!
This was in my car on a 4 track back in 1969. I was great then & its great now! All tunes are classics,& you have the incomprable Nicky Hopkins on piano on Kow Kow! Check out Stevie B4 Fly like an eagle & other top 40 stuff!
