I've been a life long Styx fan, my parents brought the bands new releases into the house on vinyl back when I was a kid. Since the classic Styx line up took a break from one another back in the early 1980's a lot of time went by between then and the release of Brave New World. The band doesn't quite have the same sound, but its still very interesting to hear remnants of the old, classic band in this recording. The focus of this cd is a theme where all the songs are focused on mental illness, and although I think its a bit much some of these songs are really beautiful (the first 3 especially are my favorites). Depending on what type of Styx fan you are your gonna either think that this really is average or your gonna love it. Once thing is true, the more you listen to it, the more it grows on you and the more you begin to really enjoy it. If you need this to fill in a gap in your collection then I'd advise you to go ahead and get it, it isn't as bad as the critics led on, and over time, after several listens you'll be glad you bought it.Read full review
