I have been told to be careful with remastered CD's because they can sound very different than the original album or even original CD, and some do not sound very good at all. This is a good one and the extra tracks are a fun addition. It's probably not their absolute best album, but it's filled with great music. My husband, who has always been into a different genre of music keeps asking me to play, "Squeeze Box" over and over.

Something I feel The Who never quite received adequate credit for is the diversity of their catalog. No one album sounds so much like another that it could be considered to be derivative, When I was young, and first owned this on vinyl, I was struck at how dissimilar the songs on this effort are from those on other Who records. Yet the tunes on this disc still exhibit the same energy and spirit that unmistakably brand this as a Who recording. Highly recommended for Who fans.

A Great Band and Recorded Right and the Xtra Live Songs are Great

I'm a long time Who fan and went through two of these on vinyl back in the day. I have most of their recordings on CD now but I did not have this one and found myself listening to it on youtube so I figured I'd just buy it. Although there are a lot of great songs on this release "Dreamin from the Waist" is in my view, musically perfect. Each track is crystal clear and the entire song is just so tight and wildly "The Who" that even after 30+ years it still gives me goose bumps every time I hear it. Louder the better… I was really surprised to hear that Pete Townsend hated this song above all others, as stated in an interview I saw. I think what he hated was the look that Roger gave him during the song, like they were friends…I believe Pete called him a "F'ng Wanker" :)Read full review
As a big The Who fan I had to buy the remaster of By Numbers. I cannot get enough of it. From the opening jam Slip Kid to the final masterpiece Round and Round. Songs like However much I booze and How many Friends are a couple of my favorite The Who songs. It contains the radio favorite Sqeeze Box as well as Imagine and Red, Blue, and Gray (Pete singing). Ten great rock songs by four great musicians. I'm dreaming... from the waist on down... dreaming!!!!
