Boy, I forgot how all over the place musically they were before the 80`s hit machine they became. I haven`t taken this cd out of my car in days. I bought it for one song, basically..."love in them there hills"; which I was hoping was a remake of an old late sixties r/b hit which noboby seems to remember, and it was the same song. But boy did the rest of the cd surprise me. I hadn`t heard most of those songs in years; maybe decades... it was great. And still is. Anyway, anybody that wants to hear a good eclectic mix of good music, get this cd!
I agree with earlier review regarding the surprising diversity of the Pointers' 1970s output when they were still a quartet. I bought this compilation for their 1940's tunes Steam Heat and Black Coffee, and the ode to harmony Yes We Can Can. But the country & western tune Fairytale is spot on (it won a Country Grammy!). And the whispered chorus in How Long is straight out of the 1970s Blaxploitation films. This album is a gas. Now that 3 of the sisters have died, this group should not be forgotten.
