It's a shame really that more people don't know about these guys. But then again, for we lucky few, we get the chance to enjoy them with the knowledge that we know something that others don't! Mato and the band (completely revamped at this point) prove that they have honed their chops and abilities on this fantastic disc. Fool Me Again is simply a put just a great song. Number 9 Train, Runaway, Alright Now, and most of the rest of this album are just pure and simple some of the best rockin blues you'll ever hear. Mato's voice, while having hints of Stevie Ray, is his own, and is as pleasing as ever. My personal favorite track is Come on Home. It's slow, soulful and powerful as anything they've ever done. If your a fan of the blues, hell if your just a fan of DAMN good music...BUY THIS DISC! You will NOT regret it. Just a note...I got the chance to see Indigenous live at a small (and man do I mean small) club in Philly...one of the absolute best shows I have ever seen. I got to spend the entire night standing right in front of Mato on stage as he just blistered the guitar...and let me tell you, for those of you have "Blues This Morning"...watching him do Hendrix's Red House live is even better than the track on the disc! Damn is that guy good!Read full review
Mato Nanji continues to rock even as changes have rocked the foundation of Indigenous. This new album is another awesome disc to add to the stack of killer cd's from Indigenous. Mato and the band continue to evolve and change and with unmatched skill they lay out bluesy rock driven by Mato's attack on the guitar and his soulful voice along with the rock solid bass of Pte. Changes have come and Horse and Wanbdi do not appear, replaced by Michael Bland on drums and Kurt Olsen drums and Bruce Mccabe, Mato and Leah Nanji on background vocals. This album is a fine example of Indigenous' brand of blues guitar rock. These songs seem to represent long years on the road performing away from loved ones and the blues come shining through.
This is an awesome addition to any Indigenous Collection. I own all of their albums, but was hesitant to purchase this one. I had heard some reviews that weren't very concrete but let me assure you that these tracks are genuine. Play it from the beginning to the end, it's great traveling music too. If you like their previous albums and the blues guitar, then don't hesitate as I did.
Indigenous is an awesome blues group - they opened for Jonny Lang a few years ago and I fell in love with their music - this cd is great - if you like blues guitar music you will love this cd
I like the recording but, I like the earlier stuff better. I have all the Indigenous CD's and this is a good progression of Mato's sound but it just doesn't appeal to me like "Indigenous" and "Closer you get". Good recording none the less.
