Chris Rodriguez is somebody you may never have heard of but you've seen him play with tons of major artists. He's a studio musician, excellent vocalist and now we hear he's also a songwriter. The guy is a triple threat. All songs on Beggar's Paradise are excellent - the title cut is infectious - it has a bass line that moves all over, a catchy guitar riff and it just feels good. Also, Chris talks about about how something steering him right off the road, and implies that he wants Jesus to take the wheel cos he's out of control - hmmm, did someone rip that idea off or what? I love how there is one cut that sounds like Cheap Trick, one that sounds like the Eagles, one that sounds like the Rembrandts (Friends theme song guys), even one that sounds like Eric Clapton - but they ALL sound like Chris Rodriguez. I know the guy makes a great living playing with Keith Urban, Mike McDonald, Kenny Loggins and no telling who else, but I sure wish he'd come out with another album. This guy needs to the recognition he deserves. SL NashvilleRead full review
