I was raised on Allan Sherman and listened to my dad's albums over and over and over. Finding them on CD is a real thrill, though some of the prices are a little...um...insane. If you are a fan of Weird Al, Allan was a pioneer in the parody music genre. This album includes classics such as Al and Yetta (Alouette), Harvey and Sheila (Hava Nagila, Won't You Come Home, Disraeli (Won't You Come Home, Bill Bailey), When I was a Lad and, my favorite, Shticks in one Hand and Half a Dozen in the Other. Having a good handle on the world of the 50s and 60s helps, but isn't necessary.
