The year 2003 they release this extremely touchy soft album 'Damnation' Damnation consider to be the most very soft opeth album and there is NO DEATH GROWL NOR HEAVY INSTRUMENT nothing but relaxing, touchful lyrics. I gotta say this that i'm also proud owner of Damnation and i'm so extremely satify to buy this album there is no dislike everything is a must buy for all people who don't get into black n death metal, thrash metal, groovy metal, doom metal. This album is for everyone but except this song 'Weakness' it has lyrics like 'You Kill Me' which is not suitable for young age. Like i said Damnation is very soft album WITH NO DEATH GROWL NOR HEAVY INTRUMENT everything is plain soft just softy and relax. Damnation is no way compare other albums with lack of death growls but i heard their upcoming album 'Heritage' will like Damnation but let's see if this memorial album can compare with Heritage. I gave this album rating 11/10. Case Closed.Read full review
This album doesn't move me like some of their other offerings. I tend to like their more instrumental focused music. It has some good moments. You might like it

All I can say about this albyum is you have to like Progressive Rock to really appreciate what Opeth is trying to do here. You definitely, at times, feel like you are listening to a modern take of the classic Pink Floyd album "Dark Side of the Moon", but this album has it's moment.
Damnation is a good CD. I got into Opeth with Ghost Reveries, which is one of my favorite CDs of all time. Damnation is a lot softer, they never really break into the "metal" sound. But it is still very good.
