Fast, energetic, and artistic. Very strange, but innovative and interesting, awesome beats keep the listener from loosing interest, incredible solos, an all-around action-packed jam session. Lyrics seem to be nonsense, but don't seem to be the artist's primary concern. The focus is definitely the balance of instrumentation, driving rhythms, and non-stop musical ideas, built with transitions from track to track. Definitely shies away from mainstream music. At first, might be hard to listen to, but eventually very rewarding (remember OK Computer?) Bottom Line - no can discredit the band's talent - guitars, bass, drums, and vocals kept in close sync even with disjunct meters and rhythms. Not to mention the insane amount of soloing - sometimes it seems the band just sat down and recorded a song from scratch - very raw sounding and yet amazing in terms of harmony and melody. Whatever the case, these words can't really do it justice, you'll have to get a copy and listen for yourself.Read full review
Pounding riffs, and odd time signatures fill De-Loused. The Mars Volta are masters of dynamics and display this talent throughout their first full length release. The Tremulant EP was a simple taste of what was to come on De-Loused showcasing some of the group's ability to create original and intriguing ideas, but now that they have over an hour to play with it becomes evident that formulating complex rhythms and catchy melodies is quite within the grasp of The Mars Volta. Not plauged with the dead static space and birds chirping that took up far too much time on the 2005 release Francis the Mute, De-Loused in the Comatorium is the best Volta record cut to date.
Came in a lot faster than I thought. Played perfectly no scratches on disk. Happy.

I was sad when At the drive in broke up a couple years back but when i heard about this album i was very excited to listen to it. This cd Delivers! really amazing actually, my favorite tracks have to be: " inertiatic esp", "eriatarka", "Cicatriz esp". Powerful/beautiful vocals, Awesome guitar work and drums, and really cool ambient-ish sections! Yes, buy it!
Every Mars Volta album is absolutely incredible, their debut no exception.
