I found it difficult to remain interested and I don't even think it's a grower. Where earlier works showed innovation and uniqueness this one is slow and lumbering, irritatingly ostentatious and stale. All the tracks meld into each other and at about three numbers in you'd be forgiven for thinking you were listening to one of the Gallagher brothers' side projects. This may have been their intention but how ironic then to have an underground documentary about the rise of Desert Rock (Such Hawks Such Hounds) named after one of their tracks. It lacks any conviction and just seems to be an exercise in ambient chill out, which is fine for a Sunday morning but not much use for a Saturday night.
