I have been a Doors fan for about 15 years, ever since I saw the Oliver Stone Doors movie and discovered Jim Morrison through a hot Val Kilmer. For a while, I was collecting all the recordings I could of them, plus biographies, poems, interviews, and books. My final Doors recording purchase was a 2-CD Live album, which has alot of the tracks from "Waiting for the Sun" on it. I loved the live version so much, I never looked back. Until now. I couldn't pass up getting the actual studio recording of this hit album, and I have really enjoyed it. It is what I would call a typical Doors recording - Jim still with his young voice and young clarity and drive. The liner notes has the full poem of The Lizard King with a nice sketch of a lizard (was that Jim's drawing?). However, there's no recitation of it on the recording nor is it part of any song on it. Random. I love it. So Jim Morrison -random, but connected when you think about it. The B-side tracks on this CD are delivered precisely and are refreshing, since alot of radio hits came off this album and have been overplayed, of course. This purchase (for a really low price on half.com) is keeping me interested in the Doors.Read full review
I BROUGHT THIS AS AN LP WHEN I WAS JUST A KID THEN HAD IT ON CASSETTE. I'M FINALLY GETTING THE CD AND I CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR IT MORE CLEARLY THAN EVER. THE ALBUM HAS SOME DARK LYRICS IN A FEW SONGS BUT THEY'RE INTERESTING AND MAKE YOU THINK. HELLO I LOVE YOU IS THE COMMERCIAL HIT ON THE ALBUM BUT IT'S NOT MY PERSONAL FAVORITE. SPANISH CARAVAN IS HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL. I MUST LOVE IT OR I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT IT 3 TIMES.
ANOTHER classic that is a MUST HAVE! Jim Morrison style of poetry that will put you in a trance and make you feel the LOVE that this man had embraced. He was a genius in his little world and he could of gone so much farther and done so much more BUT the Good Lord needed him! I can't wait to meet him one day myself. TILL THEN, I will treasure his music and wonder about that UNKNOWN SOLDIER that he sings about in this CD. MUST HAVE just like all the Doors Music!
Cd was in perfect condition. The doors are my favorite group so I look for bargains like this one. It played as if it were bought just yesterday and the cover was in very good conditon.
