I suffered through about 20-25 minutes of this non-sensical film. It shifts back and forth between Gwyneth Paltrow still going out with her boyfriend, and her not going out with him anymore. There is no connection or relationship between the two "parallel" lives she lives in the film. My impression of Sliding Doors was that the prodocer was undecided on one script, so he chose to try to fuse two into the film. The end result is an incomprehensible mish-mash of broken dreams and hurt feelings. The film makes no sense at all and abuses the viewer by offering no ryme or reason for the excruciatingly-similar lives led by Paltrow. Gwyneth Paltrow, as always, is good, and John Hannah is, as well. His flirtations and meetings with Paltrow are memorable, so credit is due the screenwriter and director, Peter Howitt. He should have written just the life Paltrow lives with Hannah, eliminating the other "parallel" life, thereby not confusing the viewer. If he had done that, he could have done Notting Hill one better. As it is, the film is junk.Read full review
This is a fantastic romantic flick. You want to take John Hannah home forever. He shows such sensitivity toward the heroine. His jokes, charisma and good looks show through this flick. The plot is great also.
I bought this movie because I heard it was good. It was good and relevent to my life as I too, had a sliding door experience. Thank you.
